The men that formed the 9th and 10th Cavalries of the U.S. Army helped shape the American frontier from 1867 to the turn of the century. Called Buffalo Soldiers by Native Americans, these African-American soldiers were honored for their bravery by future all black regiments that adopted the same name. This title acknowledges the role of African American soldiers in shaping our past.
